The world’s most popular musical will head to Dubai for three weeks from 16 October…

It’s largely regarded as one of the most popular musicals in the world, and this October The Phantom of the Opera is set to make its Dubai debut.

Taking to the stage at Dubai Opera in Autumn of 2019, the show will run for three weeks from Wednesday October 16 until November 9. Due to its immense popularity, the show’s organisers added an extra week. The additional tickets will be available from June 13 and prices start at Dhs250.

The show, created by Andrew Lloyd Webber, will come to Dubai straight from London, and Dubai Opera will be the only location to host the iconic show in the GCC.

“We’re enormously proud to be able to announce this,” commented Dubai Opera CEO Jasper Hope at the announcement.

The show in Dubai promises a larger-than-life spectacle with 130 cast, crew and orchestra members, including a spine-tingling performance of The Phantom which will be played by one of musical theatre’s most exciting talents, Jonathan Roxmouth. In addition to jaw-dropping scenery, breath-taking choreography and more than 230 costumes by the late international designer Maria Björnson, The Phantom of the Opera international tour will utilise state-of-the-art lighting and special effects, many of which are a first for the region, to provide modern audiences with a spellbinding visual feast.

The Phantom of the Opera tells the tale of a disfigured musical genius known only as ‘The Phantom’ who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerised by the talents and beauty of a young soprano – Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine’s love for Raoul, the Phantom’s obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealousy, madness and passions collide.
