The free parking will come into effect from December 1…

If you’re driving around over the UAE Commemoration Day and National Day holiday, you’ll be pleased to know that there’s free parking in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Here’s what you need to know…

Free parking in Dubai

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that parking will be free in Dubai over Commemoration Day and UAE National Day. The free parking is valid from December 1 to 3, and does not apply to multi-storey parking.

The RTA has also announced revised timings for public buses, metro, tram and marine transport timetables. Customer Happiness Centers will be closed from December 1 to 3, with services resuming on Saturday December 5.

Free parking in Abu Dhabi

The Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi (ITC) has announced five days of free parking in the capital. From December 1 until 7.59am December 5, motorists can use surface public parking bays free of charge.

The ITC has also shared revised public transport timetables and customer service operating hours. Customer Happiness Centres will be closed throughout the holiday, reopening on Sunday December 6.

Free parking in Sharjah

Sharjah Municipality has announced free public parking throughout the city, from Tuesday December 1 until Thursday December 3 – paid parking will resume on Saturday December 5.

Do take note where you park, however, as some spots in Sharjah are not included in the free parking zones.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazien, director of Public Parking Department at Sharjah Municipality, reminded motorists that “This decision excludes the parking zones that are subject to parking fees on all days of the week including Fridays and public holidays,” he said.

These paid parking zones are identified by blue signs, which indicate that the area is subject to fees every day of the week from 8am until 10pm.
