The next long weekend is just around the corner…

If you need a little boost to make it to the finish line of 2020, then we have just the news you need. For many of us, there’s a five-day weekend coming up next week, with the next UAE public holiday starting on December 1.

On December 1, the UAE will celebrate Commemoration Day, formerly referred to as Martyr’s Day. This annual holiday honours the Emiratis who died while protecting their country. In 2020, it falls on a Tuesday, and it will be marked with a public holiday.

The next day is UAE National Day, on Wednesday December 2. We usually get two days off to celebrate, and according to the unified calendar from the UAE Cabinet, we’ll also get Thursday December 3 as a public holiday this year.

So, combined with Commemoration Day, this means for those who usually have Friday and Saturday off as their weekend, you’ll get three consecutive public holidays in the UAE in December. If you generally work on a Saturday, it’ll be a four-day holiday for you.

The holiday is confirmed for the public and banking sectors, and in keeping with the unified calendar, the private sector is expected to follow suit.
