That’s four open, and one more to go (that we know of, that is)…

Hot on the heels of new openings in Dubai and Ajman, the beloved Saudi fried chicken brand, Al Baik teased us with an expansion into yet another emirate – the cultural capital, Sharjah. But, there was a spicy twist, as it was not just one branch that was opening – it was two.

Eagle-eyed residents had spotted the Al Baik hoardings at City Centre Sharjah but, it was not long after and Al Baik whispered that Sharjah would be home to a second branch on Al Majaz Waterfront at the Sharjah Corniche.

And if you’ve been waiting for the juicy news, it’s finally here as the Sharjah branch in Al Majaz Waterfront officially opened its doors today. Expect the same bold delicious Al Baik flavours you’ve come to know and love. As usual, there could be queues so make your dinner plans accordingly.

But, why are we so crazy for Al Baik?

Al Baik first showed up in Dubai during Expo 2020 where it received a very warm welcome, before opening two permanent locations in two of Dubai’s most prominent malls. Dubai Mall opened first in the summer of 2021 followed by Mall of the Emirates, which opened its doors at the end of April. The first outpost in Ajman received a warm welcome when it opened on July 5 inside City Centre Ajman.

If you’re not familiar with the fried chicken favourite, the brand has operated in Saudi Arabia for almost 50 years, having first opened in Jeddah in 1974. It’s become the region’s most beloved fast-food brand and now has more than 100 branches across the Kingdom. It is renowned in the region for its fried chicken, shrimp, falafel and fries.

After the second opening in Sharjah is complete,  we can’t help but think – ‘Where to next?’

We can only hope that our neighbours in Abu Dhabi will be getting good news soon…
