Prepare to weep: Dubai Marina Yacht Club is closing
We’ll certainly miss its waterfront terraces…
It’s official, Dubai Marina’s beloved yacht club is closing down in January 2017.
Well, not all of it.
Starting January, the Dubai Marina Yacht Club will only provide marina-related services to its berth holders, but from a different office in The Address Dubai Marina hotel.
However, all club-related services and operations of lifestyle, food and beverage and commercial amenities at the existing yacht club will be discontinued.
This means we’ll have to bid adieu to the water-facing restaurants and bars in the club. Many of these have become Dubai Marina staples over the past eight years (the yacht club’s restaurants and bars opened their doors in 2008).
So yes, this means no more cheap Wednesday nights and no more Friday night brunches at Aquara. You can also say goodbye to pool games at YOTS Sports Lounge and coffee at 25º55º Café Bistro.

Why is this happening? Well, we don’t know, all the company will tell us is what’s happening next: an Emaar spokesperson has said that “Emaar is developing a new hospitality concept that will also feature a world-class yacht club in the current location of Dubai Marina Yacht Club.
“Work on the project is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2017.”
So can we expect a bigger, better yacht club? It sounds like we can. But we’re still sad at the disappearance of one of Marina’s classics.
Better get your fill of the Dubai Marina Yacht Club before it disappears.
