Calling all music fans: there’s some top talent coming to the capital for the new season of Abu Dhabi Classics

Fancy listening to music performed by some of the world’s top classical talents? You can at the 7th edition of Abu Dhabi Classics, which runs until next April and features events in the city at Emirates Palace, in the Western Region and in Al Ain.

Ticket are now available for all Classics concerts, and this weekend sees a performance by the Trombone Trio from Holland’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. They’ll be playing works by iconic composers such as Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. The Trombone Trio are brothers Nico Schippers and Martin Schippers, along with Bart Claessens. Next up are two special nights at Emirates Palace on Tuesday, December 5 and Wednesday December 6. Germany’s Staatskapelle Dresden orchestra will perform with Austrian classical pianist Rudolf Buchbinder. The evenings will feature all five piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven (concertos one and five on December 5, two, three and four on December 6). A rising star from South Korea will take the stage in the capital for two nights early next year. Pianist and Chopin competition gold medalist Seong-Jin Cho is in the capital on Wednesday, February 7 at the Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat, and Thursday, February 8 at the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort By Anantara in the emirate’s Western Region. He’ll play works by Chopin, Beethoven and French composer Claude Debussy. Check out the video below of Seong-Jin Cho performing.

Last, but certainly not least, Friday, April 20 sees the world of ballet in the capital for the Abu Dhabi Classics Season finale – a performance by the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theatre along with international ballet dancers Ivan Vasiliev and Ekaterina Krysanova. The show also has local flavour – Emirati ballerina Alia Al Neyadi will perform on the night – and it takes place at Emirates Palace.
