Video: See a wingsuit pro flying through the UAE and Oman
This footage of a wingsuit pro flying and swooping like a giant bat past jagged Omani rocks makes our heart skip a beat.
Well known wingsuiter Graham Dickinson has just put in nine months and 2,000 hours of hard work in order to open up over 100 new jump exit points in the UAE and Oman. His new video series Blood, Sweat and Tears shows the nail-biting near misses that happened while he found the new locations.
‘Opening’ a jump or an exit point means being the first person ever to base-jump at a location. This is obviously extremely dangerous and takes a lot of research at and about the location.
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of crossing the Omani border, you’ll know that the sandy plains of the UAE turn dramatically mountainous when you do so. The sky-high peaks are near perfect for people like Dickinson who seek extreme activities.

On his Facebook page, wingsuit pro Dickinson mentions his interest in air sports began at a young age: he started skydiving at 18 and base-jumping at 22. His current job as a wingsuit tracking coach and tandem instructor has taken him all over the world, from Dubai to California, Canada and Australia. He has over 4,000 skydives and 1,000 base jumps under his belt.
In Part One of his series, Dickinson can be seen flying within an arm’s reach of certain death as he soars over and through the bluffs of Oman.

It looks and feels very similar to the Grand Canyon. This place has a key to my heart. The jump itself requires a quick, certain weather conditions, and a nice flare before opening. Whilst not in the Middle East (France, to be precise), this is Dickinson’s most successful video to date, showing himself and his cameraman gliding effortlessly through a forest:
