The popular book shop will open in the new extension of Galleria Al Maryah Island…

We can all agree it’s important to invest a little more of our time away from technology and back into good old fashioned books right?

Kinokuniya Bookstore is due to open its second UAE branch in The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Spring 2020. The Japanese book shop is a popular destination for books, magazines, comics, educational materials, art supplies, crafts and gifts with stores all over the world.

After opening its first store in Tokyo in 1927, Kinokuniya has launched stores in New York, San Francisco, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and Dubai, before finally announcing plans to launch in the UAE’s capital.

Once open, the new branch promises to offer something for every member of the Abu Dhabi community, giving people of all ages a hub where they can find books to use for leisure and activities.

Naoya Hirata, Managing Director of Kinokuniya UAE, says: “We are very excited to celebrate our unique Japanese heritage within The Galleria Al Maryah Island’s vibrant mix, and we look forward to welcoming the Abu Dhabi community to our store. Young children will love Kinokuniya’s learning and development series, teens will be captivated with popular young-adult titles, and thousands of classic and contemporary fiction and non-fiction titles will suit all preferences.”

The news comes after Azadea Group announced it would be opening a Missguided store in The Galleria later this year. When the extension is complete in September, The Galleria Al Maryah Island will house more than 300 shops, 100 dining options, rooftop parks, a 21-screen Vox cinema and three levels of entertainment.
