Any guess is a good guess, as we hope lower fuel prices are on the way…

Gassing up your four wheeled-baby (or monster) might get just a little more pricey in October, as next month’s fuel prices are set to be announced here in the UAE.

At this time last year, we were starting to be relieved that temperatures in the UAE were slowly beginning to drop. Also at this time last year, fuel prices were nearly the same as they are now.

We’re expected to have accurate information and precise figures on the other side of the weekend. At this time, albeit optimistic, we’re keeping our fingers crossed in the hope petrol prices begin to drop, or at least fluctuate, after three straight months of a steady climb over the peak summer months in July, August and September.

Retail rates for Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus 91, all went up last month, by as much as 28 fils a litre in comparison with the month prior. Each of these are priced at Dhs3.42, Dhs3.31 and Dhs3.23 respectively, while diesel jumped by 45 fils to Dhs3.40.

For the better part of the past decade, the UAE Fuel Price Committee has been announcing retail fuel prices at the end of every month, since the deregulation of oil prices in 2015.

If you’re not ready to downsize that V8 yet, we echo your sentiments completely.
