Dubai has a brand new bridge that will make travelling to Mall of the Emirates much faster for drivers coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali

The Roads and Transport Authority, working with Majid Al Futtaim Properties, has opened a 300-metre bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road that gives motorists a direct route to the Mall of the Emirates The new bridge is single-lane but can carry up to 900 vehicles every hour. With this new connection, the journey to the mall that used to take around 10 minutes can now be done in just a minute.

Improvements around the area

This project did more than just add a bridge. The road next to the Kempinski Hotel was changed from one-way to two-way traffic. Entrances to the mall, surrounding roads, intersections, pedestrian paths, and cycling tracks were all upgraded.

The bridge project also included widening the southbound ramp at Umm Suqeim junction and upgrading the junction itself. This makes it easier for drivers coming from Umm Suqeim Street to reach the mall car parks.

Safer and smoother travel

Around 2.5 kilometres of nearby roads were upgraded, six traffic signals were added, and the bus station at Mall of the Emirates Metro Station was modified. Pedestrian and cycling paths were improved, and new road surfaces were added to make the area safer and easier to navigate.
