Here are the highlights of Sharjah Art Foundation’s Summer Programme

It’s a known fact that Sharjah was named as the ‘Cultural Capital of the Arab World’ by UNESCO in 1998 and it continues to shine in the cultural limelight to date.

Sharjah Art Foundation’s Summer 2019 Programme is already in full swing and will end on Sunday, October 6, 2019. So, if you haven’t already checked it out, here why you should be heading to the cultural capital of UAE this summer.

Do note that some of the exhibitions mentioned below end in September 2019, so plan accordingly.

Here are the must-see exhibitions of the 2019 summer programme:

If you love photography, then check out Vantage Point Sharjah 7 (VPS7) photography exhibition. Previously, the exhibition featured local and regional photographers – this is the first time the open call was extended to international applicants.

Expect a wide selection of photographic approaches, from documentary research to artistic experimentation and a range of techniques from montage, collage, infrared and more in both digital and 35mm photography.

The exhibition can be found in Gallery 1 and 2 at Al Mureijah Square, and will end on October 6, 2019.

While you’re at Al Mureijah Square, check out another exhibition held at Gallery 4 and 6 by SAF called Surface Tension. The exhibition features works in video, painting and sculpture form that explores ‘surface’ as a dynamic interface between the artists and their surroundings.

The exhibition features works by Mohammad Al Faraj, Minam Apang, Dale Harding, Mire Lee, Randa Maroufi and Dala Nasser and runs until September 7, 2019.

The best part of it all is that entry to all of  Sharjah Art Foundation exhibitions are free and open to the public.
