Brand new Caribbean cuisine, a revamped Dubai stalwart and a poolside Mediterasian menu…

From unique dining experiences, to wallet-friendly dinner deals perfect for pairs, we seem to have it all.

But as the Dubai foodie scene gets bigger and bigger, we’re seeing both old and new concepts bringing a fresh approach to dining in Dubai.

So here are three restaurants on our radar to check out this weekend (here are the three fresh places we pointed out last week).

THE BRAND NEW

Sho Sho’s: Caribbean cuisine in DIFC

This mysterious Caribbean concept has just opened in Emirates Financial towers. Joining the ranks of Miss Lily’s and Ting Irie in serving up Caribbean and Jamaican-inspired cuisine, expect jerk chicken, minted lamb chops, curry goat and ox tail stew all on the menu. The decor is a mix of crushed blue velvet booths, mounted images taken straight from the streets of the Caribbean islands and authentic island cocktails served up in the part restaurant, part lounge.

Emirates Financial Towers, DIFC, daily 6.30am to midnight. More info on Instagram.

THE MENU LAUNCH

Azure: The poolside Mediterasian menu

Azure Lounge, the new poolside restaurant at Azure Beach (the new beach club at the recently opened Rixos Premium JBR) has launched a brand new Mediterasian menu. The menu of freshly prepared dishes is an Asian fusion inspired menu and includes dishes such as an octopus, hamachi and scallop seafood ceviche (Dhs60), Asian steak tartare (Dhs75) and a sushi pizza (Dhs55). As the weather cools down, we reckon it will be a great spot for enjoying poolside sundowners too, with both indoor and outdoor seating options.

Azure Lounge, Rixos Premium, JBR, daily 11am to late (kitchen closes 11.30pm). Tel: (052) 777 9472. More info on website.

THE REVAMP

Jebel Ali Club: A revamped leisure destination replacing a Dubai stalwart

Jebel Ali Club, one of Dubai’s oldest and most popular leisure venues, has been transformed into a new entertainment destination that combines family-friendly dining with the club’s original charm and character. The venue has a daily happy hour, an all-day Sunday roast for Dhs75 and a live Arabic barbecue every Tuesday for Dhs75 inclusive of a glass of house grape. Three more restaurants and a cinema will open in the entertainment hub at a later date.

Jebel Ali Club, Jebel Ali Village, Jebel Ali, daily 8am to 1am (kitchen closes 11pm). Tel: (04) 459 5100. More info on Facebook.
