Sponsored content: A morning by the pool, and then a family-friendly brunch: that’s dream Friday daycation material…

Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is only a 45-minute drive from Dubai and yet it still feels totally secluded: there’s no roar of traffic, and sand dunes make up the skyline.

So, if you fancy a daycation that feels like a true break, a great option is to book into the Friday Farmer’s Brunch (which is great for families) and then upgrade to use the pool and leisure facilities for the day.

If only we could transport ourselves to this pool right now.

The brunch itself costs Dhs345 with soft drinks, but you’ll pay Dhs500 in total if you upgrade to use the pool, and shower facilities too (brunch and pool use is then completely free for children under four and the brunch costs Dhs175 for children aged 5 to 12, while pool use and brunch is Dhs250 for those aged 5 to 12).

If you fancy more of a party day out, you can pay Dhs670 per person for pool use and then a house beverage-inclusive brunch, or if you want to skip the pool you can pay Dhs515 for just the brunch with selected house beverages.

We say get there at 9am, then lounge by the pool before getting ready for your 12.30pm brunch. You can then brunch until 4pm and head home just before the sun sets.

SO WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT THE BRUNCH?

Magicians, jugglers, face painting, horse and camel rides – there’s plenty for kids to do during the brunch.

The brunch is at the Al Forsan Restaurant, which is part open-dining-room, part courtyard, part garden. It’s definitely a great option for families as there’s face painting, clowns and a petting zoo for little ones, as well as camel rides for all. Live musicians keep the energy up throughout the day too.

Quick camel ride between courses anyone?

Food wise, there are 10 live cooking stations serving up Indian and international delicacies, as well as a healthy food section, a buffet area just for kids, and a choice of more than 20 different desserts.

Sitting in that garden with the sand dunes on the horizon, you do truly feel away from it all, making this a great option if you have visitors in town (or if you just want a break from city life yourself).

Friday Farmer’s Brunch, every Friday, 12.30pm to 4pm, Dhs345 per person (including food, still water, soft beverages and four types of fresh juices); Dhs515 per person (including food and selected house beverages). Children under four years free, children aged 5 to 12 Dhs175.
