Whether you want to laugh, cry or hide behind the chair in front of you…

It’s heating up across the city, and we’re trading our al fresco adventures for indoor activities that mean never seeing more than five seconds of sun.

And if you’re looking to trade in your Netflix series binge-watching for a bigger screen, we’ve rounded up all the big releases in cinemas across the city this month.

Here are our top picks of films in cinemas in Dubai this May.

Out now

I Feel Pretty

If it’s a laugh-out-loud, feel-good comedy you’re after, they don’t come better than I Feel Pretty. Starring Amy Schumer, the story follows Renee, a supposedly unattractive overweight singleton who wakes up to see herself as a gorgeous supermodel after facing a head injury at a spin class. In the weeks that follow, Amy’s new found confidence sees her taking on body confidence stereotypes one step at a time.

Avengers: Infinity War

If you’re hungry for more Black Panther, there’s another plate of Chadwick Boseman in the latest installment of Avengers. He joins forces with fellow film heavyweights Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) and Captain America (Chris Evans) for a showdown with evil alien dictator Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his gang. Pass the vibranium, because the Marvel Universe is about to get messy.

Rampage

Led by film legend Dwayne Johnson, you can catch an all-star cast in hot new film release, Rampage, which is out now. Johnson stars as primatologist Davis Okoye who shares an unshakable bond with George, the intelligent, rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since he rescued the young orphan from poachers. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size…

Overboard

You might have thought that nothing could replace the classic 80’s comedy starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, but that was until Overboard was released. This gender-swapping update stars Anna Faris as cleaning lady Kate who dupes her amnesiac boss Lonardo (played by Eugenio Derbez) into believing he’s her hardworking husband.

Life Of The Party

When her husband suddenly dumps her, longtime dedicated housewife Deanna (Melissa McCarthy) turns regret into re-set by going back to college…landing in the same class and school as her daughter, who’s not entirely sold on the idea.  Plunging headlong into the campus experience, the increasingly outspoken Deanna—now Dee Rock—embraces freedom, fun and frat boys on her own terms.
