Featuring four side-splitting comedians with Arab roots…

Fancy a good laugh with a regional twist? Then consider heading down to the Dubai debut of “Arabs Are Not Funny” at Dubai Opera on Friday, July 6.

Widely regarded as one of the hottest comedy nights in the UK, the Arts Canteen initiative is bringing a line-up of side-splitting comedians with Arab roots, including Welsh-Egyptian comic Omar Hamdi, Prince Abdi, Karim Duval – described as the Arabic-speaking French funnyman with an Asian face – and award-winning Lebanese-British comic Esther Manito.

We have to admit to never having heard of any of these comedians before now, but after a falling down a YouTube rabbit hole watching the above video (and more than a few others), we can say with some certainty that their cross cultural humour and observational comedy should strike a pretty big chord with Dubai’s multicultural audience.

Tickets start at Dhs95 and organisers recommend a minimum age of 14+ as the show may contain some mature content.

Comedy Night, Dubai Opera, Downtown Dubai, 8pm, July 6, from Dhs95. Tel: (04) 440 8888. dubaiopera.com
