The big brunch review: Now That’s What I Call A Drunch at Accents

By

A no-frills Thursday party brunch that’s sure to get you on your feet…

You might know accents as the spot home to popular party brunch We Brunch, but the venue has just launched a new Thursday evening offering, ‘Now That’s What I Call Drunch’.

There’s both indoor seating and tables on the terrace overlooking the Marina, and it’s filled with large groups upon our arrival at 7pm on a Thursday.

The package runs for a generous four hours, with free flowing drinks on offer until 11pm, as well as two courses of sharing dishes brought to the table. Simple touches such as sparkling glitterballs and bright laser lights give it a slightly school disco feel, aided by a retro and commercial playlist of nostalgic tunes being spun by DJ Terrance Foster. It’s cheesy, and we love it.

Service is mostly speedy, although catching the attention of waiters can sometimes be a little tricky as each covers a large section of the busy restaurant. As well as house drinks brought to order, there’s a punch station of two sangria’s that’s frequently topped up.

The food starts with a selection of sharing starters, and each are generous portions. A loaded try piled with calamari, tacos and deviled eggs arrives alongside a supersized bowl of mac and cheese with nachos. Both go down well. Mains were a bit hit and miss, with a cold bowl of chips served in a disappointing curry sauce, while the pizza was freshly baked and simply finished with a tasty cheese topping.

The food isn’t fancy, and if you’re after a gourmet brunch experience this isn’t for you. But for a lively party of singalong hits, this is a great value option.
