Three of the planet’s more, shall we say, curious performers have been lined up to appear in Dubai during January. And it’s not for the faint of heart.

Having spent 2014 attracting the likes of Rolf Buccholz, the planet’s most pierced man – although he was turned away at Dubai International Airport – and a Serbian ‘medical phenomenon’ who claims to be “electricity’s only friend, an insulator, conductor, accumulator and heater”, Cirque Le Soir have pulled out all the stops for the start of the year.

And now 2015 starts along a similar line with the arrival of first of Blood Brothers, followed by Gary Stretch, then Bendini.

Things kick off on January 15 when two brothers, dubbed the ‘Sex Pistols Of Magic’ bring a stunning collection of ‘tricks’ that include fire breathing, body power drilling, sawing and stringing.

Hot on their heels of that is the man with the world’s most elastic skin. Brit Gary Turner, who says he discovered his bizarre ‘skill’ while still at school, suffers with a rare genetic skin condition that allows him to stretch all parts of his skin to never-before-seen lengths and places. In one video ‘Stretch’ is seen pulling the excess from around his neck up over his face, covering chin, mouth and almost his nose.

Turner’s ‘signature move’ sees him clip together parts of his abdomen and tricep, as well as his cheek, thus creating what he calls a ‘batman’.

And finally, there’s the extremely flexible Bendini, who’s repertoire includes not only feats of insane shape-making, but also sword-swallowing, skin piercing and walking on glass. It all adds up to a frightfully entertaining month.
