A new music festival devoted to promoting peace, harmony and tolerance in the region is coming to Dubai.
Organised by the Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Centre for Cultural Understanding, the special one-day festival of peace called Salam Aleikum is inviting musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds to create meaningful musical dialogue by sharing a purpose built stage at Zabeel Park and performing at the free event on March 27.
Musicians include Egyptian hip hop trio from Cairo, Arabian Knightz, Badiaa Bouhrizim an underground Tunisian composer and singer, and Jordanian rock band El Morabba3 as well as artists from Algeria, South Africa, Yemen and India.
The 7pm festival also features a selection of talented graffiti and stencil artists. Don’t forget your picnic blanket.
Meanwhile, in an effort to create harmony on our roads, local humanitarians The Sameness Project have been on a special mission to turn labourer buses into mobile works of art.
The new initiative called Restart the Art has involved local artists teaming up with 43 labourers to create artworks that reflect their stories and represent their greatest joys, pain and dreams.
The winning pieces will be given a prominent spot on the buses set to be revealed during Dubai Art Week. You can check out the full montage of final artworks at restarttheart.com.
