This sounds extremely cool AND extremely terrifying…

We were super excited when the world’s longest zipline at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah opened last month, and now there’s a whole new experience to look forward to: Nighttime ziplining.

Ras Al Khaimah’s Tourism Authority has announced that the zipline will start operating night rides this summer, which will mean visitors can still enjoy the attraction during the hotter months.

The opening hours for the night rides haven’t been announced yet – we’ll definitely let you know as soon as we have the details – but we’re already imagining what it will feel like to zoom through the pitch black mountains, with a starry sky overhead.

Here’s what the zipline looks like during the day:

Measuring 2.83 kilometers long (the equivalent of more than 28 football pitches), the record-breaking zipline runs through the mountains of Jebel Jais, about an hour’s drive from Dubai.

When you arrive, you get kitted out in the ziplining gear, and listen to a safety briefing at the welcome centre. Then, it’s a trip up to the top of the launching platform. Designed to look like a giant falcon, it stands at an impressive (and oh-so-scary) 1,680 metres above sea level.

With a quick safety reminder, you’re strapped in superman style, and off you soar, at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour.

Better start warming up your vocal chords for the world’s longest “WHEEEEEEEE!”
