Watch: Have you ever tried 3D glow in the dark mini golf? You can in Dubai...
Take minigolf to the next level…
While we’re trading beach days for indoor activities, we’re looking for cool new ways to have fun this summer – and we’ve found one we’d putt above the rest.
3D Backlight Minigolf opened in 2018, and is found on the Bahar Plaza of JBR.
Split into three rooms, the neon 3D artwork is breathtaking. It took two artists eight months to hand-paint, and it completely brings a new and immersive experience to the classic game.
The concept is fascinating, and in each room you’ll journey into different worlds from deep under the sea, to the lands of Arabia then up and up, into space.
Guests enter armed with a putter, fluorescent golf ball and a nifty mobile device for your nominated team leader to do the scoring. Then it’s 3D glasses on as you take to the neon-hued mini golf course.
As you step through the curtain into the first room, you’re taken under the ocean, with the walls adorned with sea creatures such as turtles and whales and colourful coral reef and tiny fish underfoot.
The first few holes will give you chance to practice your swing, and after that, you’ll have to test your short-game by pitching, chipping and navigating round obstacles, loop de loops and jagged bends.
The second room will take you to the heart of the desert, showing both old and new Dubai and depictions of Dubai Rulers on the wall.
Finally in the third room, you’ll be hanging out with the astronauts in another galaxy, where you’ll have to seriously up your skills as the course gets more difficult.
The whole course takes around one or two hours to finish and is Dhs110 for adults, Dhs90 for children aged 5 to 12, and free for children under 4 years old.
Unit P24, Bahar Plaza Level, JBR, open daily 12pm to 1am, Dhs90 to Dhs110. Tel: (04) 565 7621. 3d-blacklight-minigolf.ae
