If you’ve never tried it before, now’s your chance…

Despite living in the UAE, many of us aren’t familiar with a lot of Emirati food, or at least don’t eat it on a regular basis. Some might be surprised to find that the Middle Eastern cuisine is actually very diverse, and can be fused with others from around the world to create a new culinary experience.

This is exactly the hopes of several DIFC restaurants, who over the next few months, are hosting one-off menus created by expert Emirati chefs. Upcoming restaurants involved in the project include Roberto’s, Boca and Le Petit Maison who are all on the bill to put a unique twist on their own respective cuisines.

BB’s Social Dining was the first to offer their menu, which was created by Emirati Chef Musabbeh in collaboration with BB’s chef and co-owner Alex Stumpf. It ran from September 9 to 22 and was given an Asian twist to create unique dishes such as baby shark jasheed rolls and roasted pumpkin dessert with black sesame ice cream.

The next installment of Off The Menu: The Emirati Edition will be at fine-dining Italian restaurant, Roberto’s. The five-course menu will see Emirati Chef Saud Al Matrooshi collaborate with Executive Chef Alessandro Miceli for an Emirati-Italian inspired menu.

Priced at Dhs495 per person, the menu will include date and black truffle salad and stuffed calamari with spiced rice as well as an Italian ricotta and Camel milk mousse to finish. The meal is paired with two specially curated mocktails, as it was decided the project should respect the Emirati culture and be alcohol-free.

Roberto’s Off The Menu menu will run for two weeks until Wednesday October 9, after which Le Petit Maison and Boca will offer up their take on an Emirati dinner with a twist.
