Sheikh Hamdan appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE

HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai has been appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Defense.
Announced on Sunday by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the news comes as part of a series of UAE cabinet appointments.
In announcing the appointment of Sheikh Hamdan to Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed said he had first spoken with HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan, President of the UAE. Taking to X, Sheikh Mohammed described Sheikh Hamdan as “a leader who loves the people, and the people love him”, and further added that the cabinet have “great confidence” in his new position in the UAE government, describing his “a major contributor to shaping the future of the UAE.”
In response to his new appointment, Sheikh Hamdan took to social media to thank the UAE President and Ruler of Dubai for their trust. “We renew the pledge and promise to our wise leadership and our dear people to continue following the path of Zayed and Rashid, so that the flag of the Union remains flying and that we work in the spirit of one team,” he added.
Also announced on Sunday, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has also been appointed as the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister. He will still retain his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
