H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Deputy Ruler of Dubai is the latest Dubai Royal to join social media platform, Twitter.
Sheikh Maktoum launched his official account during a meeting with Twitter co-found and CEO Jack Dorsey on his first visit to the UAE. Taking to the social media platform, the deputy ruler said “We are pleased to have hosted Twitter’s CEO and cofounder @jack on his first visit to the Middle East and the UAE. I am also pleased to have launched my new Twitter account in his presence”.
His official account already has almost 3000 followers.

In his first series of Tweets, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai also went on to compare Twitter and Dubai, saying that “both stand as global hubs open for people, build bridges of understanding and dialogue among nations and represent platforms to nurture youth’s energies and creativity.”

Sheikh Maktoum joins his brother, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makoum, Crown Prince of Dubai on the social media platform. Sheikh Hamdan, who has been active on Twitter since 2010, currently has an impressive 3,846,909 while H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai boasts 9,705,822 followers on the platform.
Earlier on Monday, the Twitter CEO had shared a snap to the social media platform as he landed in Dubai, with the greeting ‘marhaba Dubai’.

The photo shows that Dorsey was issued with a special sticker upon arrival in the UAE, that features the Twitter logo, his handle, and iconic Dubai landmarks.
