Turn that frown upside down because a big British band is coming…

Even if your ’70s ands ’80s rock knowledge is a bit patchy – this is one track you’ve definitely heard of:

And now you’ll get a chance to sing the 1981 classic along with The Stranglers themselves, as the British band will play in Dubai later this year.

The four-piece will perform at The Irish Village on Thursday November 24, and we’re hoping for renditions of their top hits. Yes, obviously the aforementioned Golden Brown, but also Peaches, Always The Sun and No More Heroes wouldn’t go amiss either.

The surviving band first formed in 1974, and have released an impressive 17 albums over four decades.

Though they started out as punk rockers – and opened for Patti Smith and The Ramones during their huge tours in the ’70s – The Stranglers have dabbled with new wave, jazz and psychedelic sounds.

The band’s line-up has changed a bit since they first started out, but original members Dave Greenfield and Jean-Jacques Burnel will be in Dubai for the upcoming performance.

Keen to see them? Tickets are available online at theirishvillage.comticket-line.aeplatinumlist.ne and tixbox.com, or you can drop into a Virgin Megastore. They cost Dhs150, and the gig – which kicks off at 9pm – is only for those aged 21 and over.

That’s not the only big gig news this month

guns-n-rose

For the first time ever Guns N’ Roses will take to the stage in Dubai, with the legendary rock band playing in the emirate on March 3 2017 as part of their Not In This Lifetime tour.

The group that will play at the Autism Rocks arena next year are made up of original band members Axl Rose on vocals, Duff McKagan on bass, and Slash on lead guitar.

Most fans thought that the band’s 1993 set in Buenos Aires would be the last time Axl and Slash would ever played together, so this year’s revival of the pairing, and their headlining of Coachella, was a very welcome surprise.

And just days after the pair share the stage, veteran rocker Bryan Adams will bring his Get Up world tour to the same arena.

The Canadian superstar, who’s sold an enormous 65 million records (and counting) will play in the emirate on March 9.
