Sweet treats that are both delicious and actually good for you? Yes, really…
Here are are six great places to get healthy desserts in Dubai (some of them are perfect for those with food intolerances)…
1. Detox Delight
It’s always ice cream weather in Dubai, but those harmless looking scoops are often high in sugar and fat. For a guilt-free way to cool down, try the Detox Delight ice pops (Dhs15). Handmade and containing only organic ingredients, these vegan desserts are packed with fruit and veg, and free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar – plus, they contain just 30 calories each. Order online.
Founded by yoga teacher turned entrepreneur Natasha Stephenson, these indulgent sweet bites are raw, vegan, gluten-free and (largely) paleo-friendly. There are snack-sized desserts and full-sized cakes for special occasions: try the raw cheesecake (Dhs250) or the healthy (yes, really!) Nutella tart (Dh250). Order online or find the Muncherie range in select branches of Waitrose, Spinneys and Organic Foods And Café.

3. Wild And The Moon
The next time you’re in Al Quoz, swing by Alserkal Avenue and pick up a healthy dessert from this cool café. Everything on the menu is vegan and free from gluten and refined sugars, and their miniature treats are perfect for when a sugar craving hits. We like the rich chocolate truffles (Dhs28), raw tartin (Dhs28) and lemon tart (Dhs36).

4. Comptoir 102
Every fit foodie in Dubai knows about this Jumeirah gem, which is one of the prettiest healthy food cafés in the city. In honour of the winter months, it has introduced two new seasonal desserts: a blueberry hazelnut oat bars and a vegan cheesecake (both Dhs25). There’s even vegan ice cream.
102 Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 1, Dubai, daily 7.30am to 9pm. Tel: (04) 3854555. Taxi: Comptoir 102. comptoir102.com
The name of this company comes from the fact that its desserts are all paleo-friendly, which means no grains, no refined sugar and no dairy, but plenty of healthy fats like nuts and coconut oil. Try the chocolate truffles (Dhs50 for six) to stave off sweet cravings, or the healthy chocolate brownies (Dhs100 for eight) for a treat with your afternoon cuppa.
6. One Cafe Dubai by Life’n One
This recently revamped Jumeirah café has a fab new menu thanks to the talented raw food chef Hayley Mac running the kitchen. The café has healthy versions of any dessert you can imagine from carrot cupcakes (Dhs44) to chocolate cheesecake (Dhs49), free from refined sugar, dairy and gluten.
