Dubai's nature-inspired mall to open by end of year
Cityland Mall will be the shopping destination for flower-loving fashionistas.
The world’s first “nature-inspired” shopping mall is on track to open later this year.
Cityland Group, the developers behind Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden, are currently working on Cityland Mall – a Dhs1.2 billion development in Dubailand that will be packed with botanical wonders.
Here’s what it will look like:
In a statement, the developers said in terms of construction, 60 per cent of the project has been completed as of February.
These pictures of the renders vs reality give an idea of how it’s progressing…
Cityland Group says over half of the mall’s retail spaces have been leased. Construction work for the Carrefour hypermarket is nearly complete, and will be ready for handover in March.
Construction work on two major entertainment sites – VOX Cinemas and Fabyland – is also expected to be complete within the next six to eight weeks.
Of course, the main attraction will be the sprawling, 200,000 square-foot open-air garden at the heart of the mall, dubbed Central Park.
The landscaping contract for Central Park has been awarded to Miracle Garden Landscaping, who also worked on Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden.
This green space will be the perfect place for shoppers to take a break, with a mini water park, an ancient tree garden, a Japanese garden, a 360-degree rooftop garden, and plenty of shaded seating areas. There will be cafes and restaurants overlooking the garden, too.
We’re excited to check it out… and it looks like we don’t have too much longer to wait.
