UAE expat racks up over Dhs1 million in traffic fines
The expat managed to accrue 106 traffic fines in one year…
Sharjah Police announced on Thursday July 25, that a man who had committed 106 traffic fines since August 2018 has been arrested. The total value of the fines equalled Dhs1,138,000 and he was still breaking the rules of the road until the moment he was caught.
When the police officers were out on patrol on Wednesday July 24, they stopped the 31-year-old man, who’s name has not been released, as he was illegally picking up passengers from the side of a road.
Upon further insight into the driver’s records, the team discovered his hefty debt and immediately took him to Wasit Al-Shamil police station, Sharjah.

The first offence committed by the reckless driver, was on August 16, 2018. Since then the man has been on to commit 105 more offences without making any efforts to clear his existing fines.
As a reminder to the public, Sharjah Police warned drivers to abide by the traffic rules and regulations, which have been put in place to keep the road safe. In order to avoid being hit with a fine, drivers should not commit traffic violations.
