A new Dubai icon is born…

In case you haven’t heard, the Burj Khalifa is set to be pipped as Dubai’s tallest building.

The new holder of that title will soon be The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, which will soar past the 828-metre Burj to stand at 928 metres high. In doing so, it should also become the new tallest building in the world.

Launched in April last year, the statuesque building is currently under construction, expected to be completed by 2020. Dubai Media Office has shared a new video revealing how The Tower is taking shape – and it seems to be coming along nicely:

There’s now a giant replica of Dubai Creek Tower in Dubai Mall…

Designed by Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava Valls, The Tower is inspired by a blooming lily and will be an architectural and engineering marvel due to its eye-catching slender design, the delicate mesh-like structure around it – and of course, its mammoth size.

It will cost around Dhs3.67 billion to construct.

The Tower will form the centerpiece of the new Dubai Creek Harbour development, located near the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a look at plans for the new suburb here:

Good news – you can check out a giant replica of the tower in The Dubai Mall.

The model, which was crafted by engineers and is made from aluminum, is partly 3D-printed and weighs a whopping 3,000 kg.

It was unveiled by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, in July:
