A bridge on the Palm Jumeirah has been transformed into a lush forest
It’s part of a project that’s set to turn Dubai into an open-air art museum
Visited the Palm recently? Then you may have noticed the whimsical transformation that has overtaken the bridge leading to the island’s East Crescent.
Yes, we had to do a double-take, as the entire underside of the bridge appears to have sprouted a forest.
Ok, so it’s not actually a real forest, but with dense tree trunks replacing the pillars and a canopy of foliage, the massive art installation looks pretty cool.
The project is a joint venture between Nakheel and Brand Dubai, the creative branch of the government’s Dubai Media Office, dubbed #DubaiSpeakstoYou.
It was announced back in 2014 that the governemnt would undertake a long-term plan to turn the city into a kind of open-air art museum and we’re now finally seeing the fruits of that take shape.
the city will see a number of art projects implemented in the coming months, the East Crescent bridge being only the first of many installations to come.
Bring on the whimsy, we say, and can’t wait to see what comes next.
