Here's why this stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road has been painted red
Painting the town red…
Anyone driving down the Dubai Marina end of Sheikh Zayed Road over the weekend will have noticed that a large stretch of the city’s busiest highway has received a fresh lick of red paint.
The spot in question is located near Interchange No. 5, and is designed as a clever way to notify drivers of the recent changes in the speed limit from 120km per hour to 100km per hour.

The RTA had similar success with this strategy back in June when it similarly slathered Oud Metha Street near the Bu Kadrah Interchange in red paint to announce a change in the speed limit there.
Not only is the eye-catching paint job meant to clearly state the new speed limit but authorities hope that it will also help towards reducing the number of accidents on some of Dubai’s busiest roads.
The next road expected to get a make-over will be the Jebel Ali-Lehbab Road.
