Whale shark spotted at Abu Dhabi beach
The beach is closed for swimming while the shark hangs out there.
A whale shark has been making the most of the cooler temperatures, enjoying a swim in Abu Dhabi’s waters.
The endangered animal was spotted in the Kasr Al Amwaj area, the Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi said, adding the creatures occasionally appear in the marinas and waterways of Abu Dhabi at this time of year.
Whale sharks pose no risk to humans. However, the Environmental Agency has advised people not to approach it and for boat drivers to keep a safe distance (for the safety of the whale shark, most likely).
The A’l Bahar Abu Dhabi Facebook page said the beach would be closed for swimming until Friday for health and safety reasons.
