Manarat Al Saadiyat is the venue for Ramadan Evenings, a series of events taking place for two weeks next month
Want to learn more about the UAE and the Holy Month? Head to Saadiyat Island during June for the inaugural edition of Ramadan Evenings, a two-week festival featuring live performances, workshops, iftars and pop-up shops.
Running from June 4 to 17, the festival is inspired by one main theme: Ramadan as seen through the eyes of Emiratis. It starts daily at Saadiyat’s exhibition hub at 7.30pm and will feature music from Bait Al Oud, Abu Dhabi’s music school and store, plus workshops on talli (embroidery), khos (palmfrond strand braiding) and sadu (weaving).
On Sundays there will be live readings of stories from the Quran, poetry session on Saturday evenings and discussions on Islamic architecture on Tuesdays.
There’ll also be a book corner, board games, vintage video games, a puppet show, a Ramadan souq and food and beverage outlets.

The festival will also do its bit for charity – art designed by UAE talents and inspired by Islamic geometrical patterns will go under the auction hammer. Pieces of art from the recent Proud Expressions Exhibition (which honours the UAE’s heroes) will also be on display.
