You've not seen the city until you’ve seen it from a plane
What’s On goes on an aerial tour of Abu Dhabi with Seawings. Taking off from Yas Marina, find out all about touring Abu Dhabi by plane.
Spend a day driving around Abu Dhabi and you will spot some pretty impressive buildings – but you’re not seeing the whole picture. The best way to view how spectacular our skyline looks is, of course, from the air.
UAE tour operator Seawings operates daily excursions from Yas Marina on a nine-seater seaplane, and the trips give you the chance to take photos and admire pretty much all of Abu Dhabi’s scenery, coastline and islands.
Flights take off from the ocean near Al Zeina and Yas Viceroy, and fly over Yas Island before heading on to Saadiyat Island, over Meena Port, and the Corniche towards Emirates Palace, Jumeirah At Etihad Towers and the new Presidential Palace. An average trip takes around 30 minutes and you also take in Reem Island, the iconic disc-shaped Aldar HQ near Al Raha and Yas Marina Circuit.
It’s also worth making the effort to get on the plane first – because that means you can sit in the co-pilot’s seat for the whole trip and wear the fancy headphones.
