Netflix is in the UAE: But what shows can you get on it?
Netflix in the UAE is great news for those who love a sofa session on a Saturday, but the bad news is some of the top picks on Netflix’s roster aren’t available here (sad face).
The good news is that Netflix UAE finally has the latest House Of Cards episodes…
A full list of the shows that are and aren’t available on the UAE version of Netflix can be found here (find the UAE on the list and click on new videos). You can check this back regularly to see what’s been added too.
According to a post on finder.com, Netflix UAE only has 28.35 per cent of the total number of TV shows in the Netflix US library, and 31.26 per cent of the movies.
That adds up to 610 videos, 440 movies and 170 series. For comparison, the U.S. version of Netflix offers 5749 videos, 4595 movies and 1154 series.
Our offering is on par with South Sudan, Djibouti and Egypt, and has less content than neighbouring countries Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Oman and most other Arab nations.

Shows currently available include Aziz Anzari’s Master of None, Shonda Rhimes’ How To Get Away With Murder, Ricky Gervais’ Derek and Netflix’s original series Sense 8 and Grace and Frankie.
Netflix’s vice president for communications, Joris Evers, has said that the offering of shows in the UAE will grow significantly over the coming months, with Netflix titles such as The Crown, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Fuller House and more soon to be available.
A large factor behind the lack of available content is due to licensing arrangements, with providers such as OSN hosting the streaming rights behind popular shows such as Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.
While still not confirmed, most reports suggest the shows on Netflix UAE are uncensored.
A subscription to Netflix starts at Dhs30 a month, however they offer up a one month free trial if you’d like to test the waters before you commit.
