What’s On has details of the Xbox One in UAE, which will be launched in September. Find out when Xbox One is coming to Dubai and how much Xbox One costs in UAE.

Gamers in Dubai and the rest of the UAE are celebrating after Microsoft finally announced a launch date for their console Xbox One.

Priced at Dhs1,749, the state-of-the-art gaming system will be available in shops from September 5, 2014, nine months after rival Sony unleashed their PS4. Fans who want the extended Kinect package are expected to pay Dhs2,199.

The bundle includes a 500GB hard drive, Blu-ray player and built-in Wi-Fi — one Xbox One Wireless Controller and a free 14-day trial of Xbox Live Gold for new members.

Surajit Dutta, a multimedia professional in Media City, said: “This is really exciting news for everyone in the gaming community. I have been playing on the Xbox One since it became available in the USA and it is amazing. As a gaming console it’s second to none, but I just hope they make all the other services available to a local audience. The packages they can use with sports networks and other things would be a welcome addition.”

However, Stuff Middle East Editor Thomas Schambler tried to temper expectations when speaking to What’s On after the announcement.

“It’s unlikely the additioanl packages – like live TV streaming and whatnot – will work as smoothly as it does in the UAE. Sure, du and Etisalat will be available, but I expect the scheduling to be a real problem. Essentially, it will be a less good version of what the rest of the world can experience.”

Popular games – known as ‘AAA titles’ – will all be available at launch, such as ‘Forza Horizon 2’ and ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’, the latter of which comes ahead of the highly anticipated ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ in 2015.

Other features include ‘Game DVR’ that allows you to capture and record your greatest game moments, and the ability to download apps such as Skype.
