It’s a swim with a view…

The Burj Al Arab is one of Dubai’s most famous buildings from a distance — but have you ever wondered what it looks like up close? Like, really close?

Well, here’s how you can find out — you can actually swim around it.

That’s right, the Dubai Holding Burj Al Arab swim is back this year, and it’s set to take place in the shadow of the iconic sail-shaped building on March 31.

As many as 700 swimmers are expected to participate in the 13th edition of the event, which will have both 1,600 metres and 800 metres race categories.

The swim will be open to participants aged 16 and over, of all fitness levels and proficiencies.

Why should you take part? Well, it’s the only opportunity you’re going to get to swim around the luxurious landmark (the event is organised in partnership with the Jumeirah Group which manages the Burj Al Arab, so it’s totally legit).

All participants will receive free access to Wild Wadi Water Park for the day, as well as half price entry for a friend, plus, there are prizes up for grabs for the top finishers.

It’s also for a great cause. Dubai Holding has pledged that all funds raised at the event will be donated to the Al Jalila Foundation’s Obesity Research Fund, in line with the 2017 Year of Giving.

Sounds like fun, right? We’ll be out there, just like these tigers, paddling our way to glory…
