Hidden gems: Did you know about this picturesque UAE park?
As if we needed another excuse to take in some of that east coast scenery…
We reported earlier this month on the completion of the first phase of the Hatta Hiking project which boasts over 9km of trails linking a number of the area’s tourist attractions and monuments.
Not content to rest on their laurels, Dubai Municipality released a video on social media showing off the facilities of the picturesque Hatta Hill Park, giving us yet another compelling reason to take a day trip to the east coast of the country and enjoy some of the spectacular scenery.
While the park isn’t new – it was completed in 2010 – many people don’t know about it. Plus, we think it’s safe to say it’s home to the most scenic basketball and football games in the UAE:
Here’s the video that shows it from many angles. Click to play:
Located close to the Hatta Dam, the park is full of family activities including a running track, playground, football field, basketball court and large open areas of trees and natural terrain.
There are shaded huts where you can have a BBQ and it’s completely free to enter.
It also features a mountain walkway and so is a great way to get some hill workouts. It’s a 90 minute drive or 2 and a half hour bus ride from Dubai.
Visitors to the park are encouraged to download Dubai Municipality’s Makani app on their smartphones, where they can learn about the park’s facilities in more detail as they explore the area.
