7 things you should know about Global Village Season 22
New pavilions, a fun fair, and more than 12,000 shows…
The ever-popular Global Village will reopen its doors to the public on November 1 for its 22nd season. And while many of the popular attraction’s previous features remain, we can also expect some exciting new additions.
So here are 7 things you need to know about Global Village Season 22 before you visit (yes, Global Village began in 1996 by the Dubai Creek – it was much smaller then).
1. Tickets still cost Dhs15
Global Village general admission tickets are priced at Dhs15. Children under three and seniors over 65 enter for free, and tickets can be bought online, through the mobile app, or on the gate at one of the park’s two entrances.
2. There are two brand new pavilions
Two new pavilions, the Bosnia & Balkans Pavilion and the South Asia Pavilion that represents the cultures of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Nepal, have been added for the new season. These join the 25 existing pavilions, which represent more than 75 cultures from around the world.
3. There’s a brand new fun fair experience called Carnival
Carnival is new to Global Village for Season 22 and includes 28 rides, 34 skill-based games and more than 100 arcade games. It’s been designed to look like carnivals from all over the world, with themed music and lights, and each of the rides and games have been named after major world cities.
4. There will be more than 12,000 shows throughout the season
Between now and April 1, there will be more than 12,000 cultural and entertainment shows at Global Village. These include 23 concerts with international superstars every Friday at 9pm, the return of the Monster Stunt Show, three new ‘Globo Shows’, and more than 20 street entertainers.
5. You can dine at 23 restaurants and cafes
This season, Global Village will be home to 23 restaurants and cafes that include new options from Turkey, Mexico, China, the Gulf and Cuba. There will also be more than 120 kiosks serving up street food from around the world.
6. There will be fireworks displays twice a week
For extra ‘wow-factor’, Global Village is bringing back it’s bi-weekly fireworks display. To catch them, head to Global Village every Thursday and Friday from 9pm.
7. Getting there will be even easier
The RTA is introducing two new direct bus routes to Global Village for Season 22. Route 102 will run from Rashidiya metro station and Route 106 will service passengers from the Mall of the Emirates station, both heading straight to Global Village every hour. The RTA will also re-operate two routes used to service Global Village last year, routes 103 and 104. Route 103 starts from the Union metro station and heads to the Global Village via Al Rabat Street. Route 104 starts from Al Ghubaiba station and heads to the Global Village via Al Jafiliya metro station. Both of these services will run every 30 minutes.
