PALM JUMEIRAH
Palm Jumeirah was the first of Dubai’s revolutionary marine-based projects and is the world’s largest artificial island. Spread out in the shape of a palm tree, its trunk, fronds and outer crescent are ringed with upscale residential units and hotels such as Atlantis, The Palm, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray and One&Only The Palm. A monorail system links Atlantis, The Palm to the main trunk of The Palm Jumeirah, with an extension to the Dubai Metro planned in the near future.
THE WORLD ISLANDS
Seen from the air, The World Islands are truly an awe-inspiring sight to behold. Situated off the shores of Jumeirah, this artificial archipelago is designed in the layout of a map of the world. A short distance from the Palm Jumeirah, it consists of man-made islands slated for development as private residences and resorts.
JEBEL ALI PALM
It may not be in full working order, but it is a formidable sight. Perched on the mainland just in front, and part of JA Resorts & Hotels, one would be hard-pressed not to find an activity to truly enjoy at Jebel Ali Golf Resort. Its simple layout comprises its own private beach, championship-standard golf courses, seaplane access and horse riding stables.
JEBEL ALI
Modern state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities have enticed many local and multinational companies to set up office in Jebel Ali, attracted by the favourable opportunities it offers. Currently undergoing additions, this deepwater port is one of the largest in the world.
DUBAI MARINA
The largest man-made marina in the world, the Dubai Marina is a microcosm of the city’s cultural diversity. It not only has one of the largest berthing spaces in the Arabian Gulf, but also the greatest concentration of some of the world’s tallest residential buildings.
AL MAMZAR PARK
The lush landscaped areas of Al Mamzar Park are known for attracting families from all over the Emirates for picnics. Its other attractions include an amphitheatre, where many shows for children are staged, as well as a private beach from where the neighbouring city of Sharjah is easily seen.
BURJ AL ARAB
Burj Al Arab reflects the connection between the people of the region and the sea. The hotel features a design like that of a dhow, as well as a restaurant that protrudes over the Arabian Gulf, treating guests to enviable views of the city.
