Criminals in the capital beware: Abu Dhabi Police has a brand new weapon in the fight against crime… and it’s the smartest vehicle in the world.

The new Lykan HyperSport has been exciting petrolheads across the country when a special video showcasing the car in the capital was uploaded earlier this June.

The company behind the chrome beauty, W Motors, is a Middle Eastern firm who’ve been operating in the region since 2012, and have been gaining traction amongst automotive enthusiasts for being the first Arab brand of hypercars. After its world premiere launch at the International Qatar Motor Show in July 2013, W Motors revealed their first model, the Lykan HyperSport.

The UAE has never been shy of a flashy car or two. Dubai, and in particular The Dubai Police force, is famous for its supercar fleet which boasts Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Bugattis on its bill. However, it seems the spotlight is firmly on Abu Dhabi police, whose latest addition is set to wow the world.

With a twin turbo flat-six 3.7-litre engine pumping out 740 horsepower, this monster of a machine is able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in a mere 2.8 seconds. Coupled with a top speed of 240mph, it’s unlikely that other cars on the road will be capable of outrunning it.

As if its raw specs weren’t enough, the Abu Dhabi police has outfitted theirs with a special technology known as ekin Patrol, making it one of the smartest vehicles on Earth. The car’s technology reads and registers the number plates of all cars around it. It’s also embedded with facial recognition technology, speed detection and can even go as far as measuring levels of air pollution. With the ability to issue automatic fines for speeding cars, the Lykan HyperSport is just a computerised voice away from becoming RoboCop.

The Lykan HyperSport also made an appearance in the recent Fast and Furious 7 movie.

With an impressive movie reel and unmatched technology, owning your own Lykan HyperSport comes with a pretty nasty price tag of Dhs12.5 million. That makes it the third most expensive car in the world after the Lamborghini Veneno (Dhs16 million) and the Maybach Exelero (Dhs29.5 million).

With a limited edition stamp of only seven in the world, you’d better snap yours up fast.  And thanks to Vin Diesel and the gang, there’s only five left now.
