A fleet of shiny new food trucks will switch on their engines and trundle their way onto Dubai streets in August.

The new trucks will be dishing out the A to Z of foods including wings and sliders, health food, tacos and chilli from Mexico, shawarmas, beef brisket and grilled cheese sandwiches from America.

Finger licking wings and sliders will come from the MOB van, while Calle Tacos, an existing American brand, will serve a range of Mexican food. For the health conscious, there’s the F!T truck, while coffee addicts can get their fix from the people at Bio Bean, a local roastery which specialises in premium coffee. Other mobile meals include Shawarma Station, the Jordanian Brisket Truck, and The Ice Cream Truck.

Two of the more interesting concepts are the eye-catching Toasted Grilled Cheese truck serving toast, sandwiches, soups and snacks, while Gobai gets its name from its fusion menu that blends Indian food from Goa with dishes from Dubai.

The vehicles will set up in Dubai parks and beaches, and at events and festivals from August 17 and they can also be booked to cater for private events. An app is in the works to provide customers with menus and GPS locations of each truck so you can track them down in Dubai. The trucks are being run by Roundup, a division of the food company 54 (degree symbol) East and they plan to introduce more trucks later this year to take their fleet up to something around the 100 mark.

Existing food trucks such as Jake’s (burgers) Melt (ice cream), Salt (burgers) and the Vida Food Truck (burgers, hot dogs and cupcakes) are hugely popular in Dubai and, with these new trucks soon joining them on the streets, it seems Dubai still has plenty of appetite for mobile meals.
