The martial arts master himself, Jackie Chan, is coming to Dubai this September to shoot his latest action-adventure movie Kung Fu Yoga.

The film is also set to feature famous Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif in her first international film. The 31-year-old Bollywood star will be playing an Indian professor at a Chinese university, while Chan plays a Chinese archaeologist who enlists Kaif’s help to seek treasures from the Magadha era.

In the movie the duo travel back in time to 500BC in an attempt to find the treasures, whilst battling their own demons from the past.

As you’d expect with Jackie Chan at the helm there’ll be a good helping of karate and kung fu stunts.

Director Stanley Tong, whose previous collaborations with Chan include Supercop, Rumble in the Bronx and First Strike, has played a big part in catapulting the actor towards international stardom.

The film was originally set to star Indian superstar Aamir Khan, but he has recently stated he’ll be dropping out to continue shooting for his highly anticipated Bollywood movie Dangal.

This announcement comes hot off the heels of other big-budget international films reportedly filming in the UAE. Brad Pitt’s War Machine is set to start shooting here in September, with Bollywood action-adventure film Dishoom starting shooting in October.

Meanwhile Dubai has also been chosen as one of the filming locations for the upcoming Star Trek film, the third in the franchise. Although Dubai’s futuristic skyline seems like it would make the perfect setting for a sci-fi city, it’s just as likely that it’s the huge swathes of desert and dunes will feature in the forthcoming film. Rumour has it that the location will represent a strange, new alien planet.  Earlier last week, UAE residents were invited to audition as extras for the upcoming film.
