They may be royalty, but His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince, thought nothing of rubbing shoulders with commuters during a recent trip to London.

The pair travelled by Underground around the city, where pictures of the two on a packed Tube carriage soon went viral the world over.

(We so wanted to start with ‘Sheikhs on a Plane’, but sadly the mode of transport didn’t allow it.)

Sheikh Hamdan shared an image of him and his father on the British capital’s low-key travel option, with the pair both clad in casual clothing.

The picture, taken on what appears to be the Central Line, has garnered a whopping 146,000 likes in less than 24 hours, while a short clip has also racked up more than 36,000 views.

“You’re both full of humility and humility comes from the heart,” wrote one fan on Sheikh Hamdan’s post.

“Great to see the Ruler of Dubai & Crown Prince getting the full #London experience. Hope you enjoyed the ride gents and remembered to swipe out with your #oystercard!” said another.

The sheikhs are very familiar with the UK capital – the Dubai royal family owns several properties there, while Crown Prince Hamdan studied at the Sandhurst military academy (as did heir to the British throne Prince William) and the London School of Economics.

Could we be seeing them on the Dubai Metro any time soon? Fingers crossed…
