Here are the new flicks you’ll be able to go see from today…

Our top pick of the movies out in cinemas this week is Transformers: The Last Knight, the latest film in Michael Bay’s action franchise.

Transformer: The Last Knight

You know what you’re getting when you buy a ticket to a Transformers film: blockbuster action, eardrum busting special effects, multiple explosions and Mark Wahlberg doing something macho. It’s popcorn fare, nothing more, nothing less. In this, the fifth (yes, FIFTH) film in the franchise, the humans and the machines are at war, Optimus Prime is gone, and the only way the earth will survive involves looking to the Transformers’ past, which apparently goes back to King Arthur’s knights.

Overdrive

The trailer for this action film proudly proclaims it to be from the maker of Taken and the writers of 2 Fast 2 Furious, so you have some idea of what to expect. It’s basically like a modern take on Gone in 60 Seconds, starring car stealing half-brothers Garrett (Freddie Thorp) and Andrew (Scott Eastwood, son of Clint), lovable, wise-cracking charmers who get mixed up with a local crime boss in France. The stunts are explosive, the people are beautiful and the fleet of classic cars will have petrolheads drooling.

Tubelight (Hindi)

Bollywood favourite Salman Khan plays Laxman, a lovable homebody who has a strong relationship with his brother Bharat (Sohail). When Bharat is enlisted in the army, goes off to fight and fails to return, Laxman vows to go after him and bring his brother home at any cost.
