Good news for UAE driving licence holders, it has been announced that you are now able to use it in 50 countries around the world to hire and drive cars. Previously, a locally-issued driving licence was only accepted in nine countries, so this is a big step forward.

They join Austria, Slovakia, Luxembourg, China, Finland, Romania, Denmark and Serbia who already recognised and accepted UAE driving licences. The UK was also added to the list, although we’ve received multiple reports from motorists that they have had no trouble using a UAE licence when driving and hiring a car in Great Britain prior to this announcement.

According to the ministry’s website, it is recommended that motorists still obtain an international driving licence when travelling as there are still are other countries that they may be required in.
