This is the second most expensive month for petrol this year…

Petrol prices in the UAE are set to increase for the third month in a row.

In October, vehicle owners will pay Dhs2.61 a litre for Super 98, up from Dhs2.59. Special 95 will cost Dhs2.50, up from Dhs2.48, while diesel will now cost Dhs2.76.

All prices include the VAT rate of 5 per cent.

This month is the second most expensive for petrol so far this year – the most expensive was June, when Super 98 cost Dhs.63 per litre.

The UAE’s Ministry of Energy first began setting fuel prices based on average global prices in August 2015. Before that, the price of petrol in the UAE was subsidised by the government, which shielded consumers from global fluctuations in the cost of petrol.
