Soul Street launches its brunch, SKY2.0 reopens and the outdoor cinema is back…

Stay strong people, the weekend is almost here. If you’re stuck thinking what you should do for the next three days, we have some awesome suggestions. You could go diving with 65,000 fish, you could check out a new beach club, or why not enjoy a big Oktoberfest party?

Thursday October 10

1. Boost your wellness

Westin Hotels are dedicated to all things ‘wellness’ this month, with a special dome popping up all over Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This weekend, it will be in La Mer offering immune boosting juices. From Thursday October 10 to Saturday October 12, head to the special dome to enjoy complimentary frozen lollies and healthy juice shots.

2. Head to a huge Oktoberfest party

The original Oktoberfest party is back, looking bigger and better than ever. Prepare to don your lederhosen as you dance to the jaunty tunes of a live Bavarian band. Staff will be kitted out in full traditional dress and even the Oktoberfest tent is having a makeover to instill that true Bavarian feeling. Guests can enjoy a buffet every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 7pm to 2am for Dhs150.

3. Check out a newly reopened rooftop bar

Cielo Sky Lounge has recently reopened for the winter season, offering stellar views of Dubai Creek and the harbour. Thursday nights are focused on ‘Afro Tech’ – a mix of house music and afrobeats. Expect tunes from DJ Jason Kabuki, DJ Kenny Boots and DJ Cory Centric from 5pm to 3am.

4. Stock up on some bargain books

The biggest book sale in the world is making its way back to Dubai for another huge event at Dubai Studio City, and it kicks off this weekend. The sale will be taking place 24 hours a day from Thursday October 10 to 20, in Sound Stages 2 and 3, Dubai Studio City. Entrance to the book fair is free, so you can browse to your heart’s content and find yourself some bargain books. Visitors can enjoy savings between 50 and 80 per cent off the usual retail prices meaning you can fill your library for less.

5. Party at the reopening of a superclub

Dubai’s newest nightclub, SKY2.0 is reopening after a summer hiatus this weekend, with three nights of excitement in store. Wednesdays present a new urban nights called Dstrkt, which will see new resident DJ Dany Neville spin the decks every week. Thursdays are the signature night, offering a mix of house and R&B tunes, while Boombox Fridays take you back throughout the years.

6. Paddle for a good cause

Ignite’s Pink is Punk is organising a paddle in support of Al Jalila Foundation and Brest friends. The paddle race has many categories, so everyone can get involved: Juniors ages 10 to 13 (1 kilometre), fun paddlers (1.5 kilometre), teens aged 14 to 17 (3 kilometres), men’s elite (4.5 kilometres) and ladies’ elite (4.5 kilometres). 7. Try a brand new brunch

FIVE Jumeirah Village’s brand new lively eatery Soul Street is launching its carnival-themed brunch this weekend and we can’t wait to try it. 10. Head to a new festival and see Rita Ora perform

11. Trek amongst marine life

Atlantis the Palm has launched a brand-new Aquatrek Xtreme experience, which is even bigger and better than before. Brave explorers will descend a ladder 10 metres into the aquarium wearing a oxygen-filled helmet to allow you to explore the marine life with ease. For Dhs720 per person, guests will come face-to-face with over 65,000 marine animals including sharks, stingrays, and schools of multi-coloured fish.

13. Watch Bohemian Rhapsody at the Urban Outdoor Cinema

From Saturday October 12, Urban Entertainment will be putting on three films a week at their cosy outdoor cinema on the lawn of the Habtoor Grand, running every Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It kicks off on Saturday October 12 with the smash hit Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody and tickets are priced at Dhs75 for the film, but there’s also waiter service on hand where you can order a selection of all the usual cinema snacks as well as pizzas and tapas.
