This is the 12th consecutive year that the UAE has made it on the list…

It’s no surprise that the UAE is many people’s first choice when it comes to long-term residency due to the quality of living, world-class infrastructure and attractions that the country offers.

Earlier this year, the country ranked sixth as the best place to live for expats and Dubai was among the top cities to work in, in 2021. And now, a new study has found the nation to be the most desirable place to live in.

The annual ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey – the largest study of the Arab world, found that UAE was most likely to be the top choice to live in for 24 per cent of Arab youth.

Respondents favoured factors like safety and security (41 per cent), the growing economy (28 per cent), effective leadership (24 per cent), ease of starting a business (20 per cent) and the clean environment (22 per cent).

Further, the country was also preferred as a good location to raise a family (19 per cent), with well-rated schools (16 per cent) and a rich cultural identity and heritage (16 per cent). Participants also praised the ease of getting a residency visa (12 per cent) and also said that they have good salaries (13 per cent).

The UAE was followed by the USA in second place, then by Canada, Qatar and the UK. This is also the first time Qatar has made it to the top five in eight years, and Arab youth also preferred the country over the UK. This is due to the rise in the country’s popularity following the success of hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2022.
