The 52nd UAE Union Day will be celebrated on Sunday December 2, 2023, and this year will see celebrations hosted at Expo City Dubai, organisers have announced.

The annual official celebration of the UAE’s birthday will co-inside with the much-anticipated COP28, a global climate change conference that will take place at Expo City from November 30 to December 12. As such, this year’s official National Day ceremony will topically ‘highlight the UAE’s sustainability journey from its union in 1971 to the present day,’ according to state news agency, wam.

The show will draw from the roots of Emirati culture and heritage while also featuring innovate technologies and jaw-dropping projections. This fusion of tradition and technology promises to reflect ‘the shared commitment to nurturing and preserving our interconnected world,’ wam reports.

The show promises an enriching narrative on the UAE’s sustainability journey so far, as well as shedding a light on the country’s vision for its future. Through performance and storytelling, the show promises to show the world how we can all use climate adaptation, overcoming challenges through innovation, and collective action to make a change.

To see it in real life, the public ceremony will take place from December 5 to 12 at Expo City, with snippets from the show and performances inspired by the UAE’s sustainability journey for all to watch. The 30-minute show will take place at Jubilee Park, with tickets priced at Dhs300. Doors will open each evening at 4pm, with unreserved seating allocated on a first come, first serve basis. The show will start promptly at 6pm.
