Netflix has announced price changes for UAE subscribers
Netflix users in the UAE will now be charged in dirhams rather than US dollars.
Popular streaming service Netflix has announced changes to its pricing schedule for UAE customers.
UAE subscribers will now pay their subscription fee in dirhams, rather than US dollars, as part of the company’s strategy to offer a more localised service.
The actual price changes are very minimal. According to the Netflix website, subscribers on the basic one-screen plan will now pay Dhs29 per month instead of $7.99 (which also converts to Dhs29). Those on the standard two-screen plan will now pay Dhs39 instead of $9.99 (Dhs37).

However, premium customers on the four-screen plan will see the biggest increase, with their monthly fee rising from $11.99 (Dhs44) to Dhs56.
“From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we switch to local currencies, add more exclusive series, movies, documentaries, stand-ups, kids content, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster,” Netflix said in a statement.
The price changes are effective immediately, and customers will be charged in dirhams on their next billing cycle.
